With Peripheral Visions, Chandra Cerrito Contemporary’s residency program, the Oakland gallery works to present projects that encourage community engagement and broaden perspectives on the human experience. For the third installment, artist-in-residence Dimitra Skandali presents You are the result of the love of thousands, an immersive and interactive exhibit that will evolve over time. At its opening earlier this month, Skandali invited folks to write down where they’re from along with a writer or poem from those places on large pieces of paper covering the gallery walls. Throughout her residency, Skandali will research these locations and add drawings, notes, and delicate sculptures to the exhibit, creating a series of physical and symbolic connections. Inspired directly by the local community, the exhibit aims to demonstrate the immense diversity of the Bay Area. The next opportunity for the public to participate is Saturday, July 21, following an artist talk. Saturday, July 21, artist talk 3 p.m., participation 4-6 p.m.; runs through Aug. 3; free; 480 23rd St., Oakland;
