Price: $16.50-$63

No sooner does his comedy Bach at Leipzig close at Shakespeare Santa Cruz than playwright Itamar Moses returns to his old school Berkeley High with Yellowjackets, a commissioned world premiere to open Berkeley Rep's 41st season. It's the mid-1990s, and tensions are running high between a violence problem in the school and controversy over racially insensitive stories in the Jacket, the school paper. Artistic director Tony Taccone directs a cast of eleven young actors previously seen with smaller companies like Impact, Shotgun, Crowded Fire, and Golden Thread, who double as both students and faculty in the play. August 29 through October 12 at Berkeley Repertory Theatre (2025 Addison St., Berkeley) or 510-647-2949.
