What do witches have to teach the rest of us, and why are some of today’s leading anthropologists and philosophers listening to them? Anthropologist and theoretician Peter Skafish presents a liberal arts-style seminar in which participants read and think with the growing literature by witches and about their craft, including Wiccan environmentalist Starhawk’s Dreaming the Dark, Belgian philosopher Isabelle Stengers’ Capitalist Sorcery: Breaking the Spell, Silvia Frederici’s Caliban and the Witch, and Evans-Pritchard’s classic Witchcraft, Magic, and Oracles Among the Azande. At stake will be the value of the witch’s perspective for critically understanding ecology, politics, and philosophy today.
