When Something Wonderful Ends

When: Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 & 7 p.m. Continues through May 4 2008
Price: $26-$30

The title of Playhouse West's latest production, When Something Wonderful Ends, is particularly apt because it will also be its last. This season the company was resurrected in its original home after finances forced it to shelve its eleventh season at the LesherCenter at the start of 2006, but founder and artistic director Lois Grandi will be closing the doors for good after this show, a late-breaking replacement for the previously announced Girl in the Goldfish Bowl. Grandi directs Janis Bergmann in Sherry Kramer's monologue-as-op-ed-piece that debuted at the Humana Festival a year ago, sweeping through US foreign policy, growing up Jewish in the Bible Belt, the Iran hostage crisis, her mother's death, September 11, and Barbie accessories. April 4 through May 4 at Playhouse West (1345 Locust St., Walnut Creek). PlayhouseWest.org or 925-942-0300
