Horror, Suspense/Thriller
How naive we were to think that The Fog was as bad as horror remakes get. Curiously adapting only the first part of the 1979 original, in which a babysitter is menaced by scary phone calls (think the opening sequence of Scream, padded out to feature length and without any gore), this update is basically a one-woman show until the stranger finally shows up near the very end. That one woman is The Chumscrubber's Camilla Belle, and she seems like a lightweight who'd have trouble being the female lead even if she had someone else to play off of, which she mostly doesn't. There's nothing good about this movie at all, from its clunky exposition to its complete lack of scares. One would hope that at the very least, a stalker played by Tommy Flanagan and voiced by Lance Henriksen would be ever-so-slightly cool. Nope.
