What Happens in Antioch Stays in Antioch

In an Antioch Police Department recruitment video posted at, a female officer reminisces about how, once, "I was doing an undercover buy of narcotics ... and I actually got shot." A colleague resolves: "You can't be timid in this job." Another muses sadly: "There's a lot of hatred. Everyone loves a fireman. But everyone hates a cop."

Another says that what he really hates seeing is "kids who get treated real bad by their parents" and other adults. Accordingly, as detailed in recent reports, "a four-year-old ... was punched in the stomach by his speech therapist" on December 22. On December 23, "parents instructed a juvenile to shoplift" from a store on the 2200 block of Verne Roberts Circle." On January 2, "a four-year-old male was hit in the face by his grandmother's male friend at a residence on the 1900 block of Sugar Pine Court."
