.What a Party!

There was something for everyone at this year's Best of the East Bay Party.

There were ravers, neon-flavored hipsters, B-boys and -girls, old punks, nerds, skateboarders, and everyone in between — truly, a spectrum of people unique to the East Bay. And they all came together at the East Bay Express‘ Best of Party last Friday. At least 8,000 people showed up to the free event, which was held at the Oakland Museum of California and featured films, dance, graffiti artists, circus performers, art, and vendors, not to mention a music line-up rarely seen under the same roof (or sky, in this case): KISS tribute band Destroyer, sultry singer Brandi Shearer, funk guitarist B’Nai Rebelfront, DJ Dyloot, electro-rappers Hottub, pioneering ska band the Uptones, punk pioneers Flipper backed by Krist Novolesic of Nirvana, plus the Kev Choice Ensemble, the Whoreshoes, Mike Glendinning, Billy Dunn and the Ladies Choice Band, Monarchs, Malachi, Won Way, Los Milagros, and the Dedications. Not to toot our our horns, but it was hands-down one of the biggest events to happen in the East Bay in a long time. The only question is, how will we top it next year?
