Weezerfrontman Rivers Cuomo might be Gen X's greatest pop songwriter. The commune-raised, neurotic genius penned a hundred ditties before 1994's "Undone (The Sweater Song)" catapulted the four-piece to platinum-selling status. Since then, the meticulous songsmith has penned hundreds more tunes, seizing the reins of Weezer, and releasing six hit albums -- the last of which is 2008's self-titled release (The Red Album) with producer Rick Rubin. Weezer guitarist Brian Bell's new band Relationship opens Monday night for before an ecstatic crowd of thousands in San Jose, some of whom might be expected to jam onstage with the band as part of their ongoing "hootenanny" project. The Troublemaker Tour hits the Event Center at San Jose State University (290 South 7th St., San Jose) with Angels and Airwaves and Tokyo Police Club on Monday, Oct. 13. 8 p.m., $49.50.
