Re: “Black Choreographers Festival

Exuberance, raw power, and real talent--always the hallmark of this annual event--are on display in all their glory at the 2010 installment of this Festival. You cannot get more value for your dance dollar anywhere. Into just three weekends, these shows are cramming two months (at least!) worth of outstanding programming: performance, master classes, and an associated film series.

This was one of the most diverse shows I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it. The Black Choreographer's Festival embodies community in the enthusiastic audience support for established as well as emerging choreographers. I suggest that you arrive early for the last performance tonight as it will probably sell out just like last night. All the Dance Mission shows have been real or virtual (very full house) sellouts.

I attended parts of each of the three weeks of this festival, and I was extremely impressed with what Ms Ellis and Ms Kimbrough-Barnes have pulled together. Do not miss your last chance to see this year's performances. Otherwise you will have to wait until next year! I am already looking forward to what 2011 will bring.
