Re: “The Oakland Coliseum’s Uncertain Future

Here's a great idea: keep the A's at the Coliseum. Soooo many problems solved.

Re: “The Laney College Opposition

Jay78, do you really feel the only way you and the city you live in can be validated is if theres a new sports stadium? Whats your argument against having the As stay where they are?
Looks like you privilege billionaire corporations over education. Sad.

Youre rightI dont want it in my backyard, which is where itll be. Why dont they have a built next to YOUR house, Jay78 and see how you feel about the noise. Thats what I thought.

Re: “Prosperity or Displacement?

"It can make the city more clean, less homeless" REALLY? A baseball park will eliminate homelessness and miraculously make the city clean? Or maybe he means the city will hide the homeless away from all the suburbanites coming to the new ballpark.

Believe me, the billionaires and their corporations are ready to turn Eastlake and Chinatown into playgrounds for A's fans. Do you think the average baseball fan gives two shits about neighborhoods being emptied out for them and their dollars? No, as long as "their" team wins they don't care who suffers because of it.

Re: “OPD’s Lost Officer Class

At some point OPD should be given free reign to do whatever they want, lawful or not. Oh, wait...they already are!

Re: “Can Oakland Protect Chinatown and Eastlake?

Hey Jay78, you should be sorry for making false claims. Do you understand what a "median wage" means? It means half make a bit more, half make a bit LESS. Do you live in Chinatown? Have you even been to Chinatown? There are people living six to a room in bunkbeds in many places. Most of the people are elderly--you think they're working under the table? Yeah, all those fancy cars and Prada bags on 8th and Alice St. AND if Chinatown residents ARE working under the table, do you think it exceeds minimum wage? No. Most, if not all, are working in the service industry. And people DO get by on $17,000/year because they live cheek to jowl in tiny apartments. Stop making sh*t up to prove a baseless point.

Re: “Can Oakland Protect Chinatown and Eastlake?

I wholeheartedly agree with Gary Patton's assessment. And already we see Oakland mayor and city govt kowtow to developers, billionaires, and corporations to the DETRIMENT of the city and many of its inhabitants. This is yet another crisis creator. ENOUGH! The A's should just stay at the Coliseum. There is NO reason to move other than to pour more money into millionaires's pockets at the expense of everyone, including the misguided, willingly uninformed A's fans who support this illogical project.
