Authorities have confirmed that the body found this morning in Delta-Mendota Canal is indeed that of 4-year-old kidnap victim Juliani Cardenas. He was found floating in the canal at around 7:30 a.m. this morning, about 30 miles downstream from the submerged car that belonged to suspect Jose Rodriguez, the Associated Press reports. The water department worker who spotted Cardenas' body immediately called 911. Authorities have issued a homicide warrant for Rodriguez, who is also presumed dead. Rodriguez had an extensive criminal history that included involuntary manslaughter.
