Untold & Unsold: POOR Press Book Release at the West Oakland Public Library

When: Wed., Feb. 26, 7:30 p.m. 2020
POOR press is the poor people-led publishing arm of POOR Magazine, which since 1996 has been dedicated to publishing and producing the books, art, education and culture of very low, no-income, homeless, indigenous, disabled, and incarcerated youth, adults, and elders. This month, they released eight books including Black Disabled Ancestors by Leroy Moore, When Mama and Me Lived Outside by Lisa “Tiny” Gray Garcia, Chimalli by Muteado Silencio, and Horse Tuuxi: My Name is Kaii by Angela Taylor. All the books are informed by the original Poverty Scholarship: Poor People-led Theory, Art, Words and Tears Across Mama Earth, which will be re-released in 2020 as part of this powerful collection. Books will be available for purchase. Authors to sign books after the reading.
