When: Sun., Jan. 11, 2 p.m. 2009

The Union City Library (34007 Alvarado Niles Rd., Union City) celebrates the city of Union City's fiftieth birthday on Sunday, Jan. 11 with a party. Among the festivities is the unveiling of "Union City," an original watercolor by Nancy Pratt depicting key events, places, and people from the city's sugar-beet farming days to its shipping and steelworks days and beyond. Friends of the Union City Library helped acquire the artwork. 2 p.m. ACLibrary.org
