Re: “Eli's Mile High Club Closes

All I can say is thank you god this club has closed. It has been a blight on our neighborhood for the years I have lived here. The 1st owners were closed down for watering down the drinks. They had a sunday night DJ reggie thing that would literally move cups and plates on the counters from the bass. The next owner was the best of all but still having a "cabaret" permitted club in between houses is a bad idea at best. I think the death knell for that owner came when a girl had her stomach cut open, came into the club and died in front of the horrified patrons.
Then came the rock and roll venues.
This place was built long before noise issues were a problem and the owners and friends were the ones living in the area. All the owners after Troyce Keys are absentee owners and really have shown they lack respect and care very little for the individuals right to peace and quiet in this area.
Imagine having to listen to music you don't like everywhere you go are your house and then having intoxicated patrons yelling at each other (the music is so loud they have to to hear each other), slamming car doors, cranking up car stereos and honking the horn at each other at 1:30-2AM in the morning. On a hot summer night you can not leave your windows open unless you want a double to quad dose of noise.
The last owner had Friday night sessions I can only describe as "death" rock. The screams could be heard thru the walls outside of the club.
That owner illegally cut down a beautiful magnolia tree that was over 18 years old because the birds were pooping on the cars parked in a 5 minute zone in front of the club. It was one of the highlights in the morning and evening to hear the many birds chattering and singing in it's branches.
The fact this 5 minute parking exists is an testament to the owners disregard for the area. It is 5 minute parking all the time. No one can park there except the club owners all day and night long. This is in an area where we have street cleaning twice a week on both sides of the street (12 midnight to 3 am). Effectively they have removed 2 of the parking spots from the area that persons could have used to avoid tickets (for 2 nights) and made it for the clubs use only. Mostly it was used by the owners for convenience. On top of that having patrons only able to use the street for parking is really not fair. Tickets were $48 dollars the last time I got one.
I personally could only see this club re-open successfully if they sound proofed the entire building to present day standards. Had off street parking. Had security outside both in the front and rear to prevent the noise from effecting the residents. Clean up the rear junkyard/construction storage area where rodents, mosquitoes, yellow jackets and feral animals breed and live and maintain it.
