Re: “The Truth of the Tea Baggers

First of all, global warming is a crock, so we can set that aside. In ten or twenty years when the climate trends have obviously failed to play along with your doomsaying, you GW true believers are going to look like fools. It'll be even more of an embarrassment to you than your last Big Idea, which wound up murdering or starving 100 million or so people.

Oh I know, you're not a communist, you're a progressive. But deep down you agree with the collectivist premise and you know it. Anyway...

I'll tell you what scares me as a right wing troglodyte. I'm scared that our best and brightest up in Wall Street aren't as bright as they used to be. I'm worried that they lack the skill to keep the capitalist enterprise going. This financial meltdown smells of incompetence as much as greed in my opinion. If the free marketeers aren't smart enough to have free markets, then they justify the argument of the collectivist nanny-staters. If the elite business class can't be trusted not to catastrophically screw the pooch, then they deserve to lose their independence and Wall Street deserves to become a protectorate of Big Mother.

Thanks to their lameness, we will slouch our way towards becoming a Euro style social-democracy where the line between private enterprise and government control is a blur. We will abandon our liberal-democratic founding and won't be able to muster a good argument against doing so. The irony, or maybe it's not an irony at all, is that probably 70% of the Wall Street types who are letting us down are liberals of one kind or another.
