Tree Lighting Ceremony

When: Fri., Nov. 28, 12 p.m. 2008

When does the winter holiday season really start in earnest? When the decorations first appear in store window displays or on people's houses? In Oakland as in many other towns, it starts with a grand municipal day-after-Thanksgiving tree-lighting ceremony. On Nov. 28 in Jack London Square (Broadway at Water Street), a seventy-foot tree comes alight amidst live music and other family-friendly entertainment lasting well into the evening. Noon.
