Crime drama, Thriller
A London auction house employee (James McAvoy) gets mixed up in the theft of a valuable painting (Goya’s Witches in the Air) and is forced to consult a voluptuous hypnotherapist (Rosario Dawson) to find out where it went. Joe Aherne and John Hodge’s twisty-turny screenplay is less than mesmerizing even after director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) hauls out his bag of big-city-thriller tricks, and the presence of Vincent Cassel as the chief snatch-and-grabber fails to provide the necessary heat. The best we can say about this is that it’s better than Guy Ritchie. (104 min.)
