There seems to be a growing trend in the movie biz to make low-budget, disposable flicks based on cult-status TV shows like, say, Reno 911 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It makes sense considering how much DVDs and television will return on this investment. Trailer Park Boys: The Movie is the latest from this exploitation genre, derived from a much-loved Canadian sitcom that almost nobody outside of Canada has ever seen. It purports to be a comedy, but lacks jokes. Worse, it lacks a real plot to inject jokes into. One supposes the three Canuck hicks that pose as protags were supposed to entertain you around the movie’s numerous deficits, but they’re just as pointless (97 min., 2006).
