She's a jazz singer, playwright, and haiku poet, and her award-winning novel Ropeless -- featuring characters with Down Syndrome and other conditions -- was inspired by her work as a volunteer teacher's assistant at a school for people with intellectual disabilities. Berkeley's own Tracy Koretsky reads poetry and prose at the BerkeleyArtCenter (1275 Walnut St., Berkeley) on March 22. An open mic follows. 7 p.m., open-mic signups at 6:30 p.m. BerkeleyArtCenter.org
