Even with the recent demise of "Tickle Me Tuesdays" at Club Anton -whose host, Mandel, appears to have moved on to loftier pursuits like muscle-car porn - Jack London Square still sizzles on Tuesday nights. For a not-too-sideshowish alternative, check out the Bay Life Open Mic at Mingles, hosted by hip-hop impresarios Igor Beatz and DJ Krypto. Though you might not be bursting at the seams to hear a wall-to-wall soundtrack of Frooty Loops tracks accompanied by rappers who tend to start every verse with "Jyeah," it's still a great place for people watching. Mingles gadflies report that local rap titans Mistah FAB and Keak da Sneak couldn't get in last week because the place was so packed.
