Tickets to African-American Music Celebration

The acclaimed Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir joins with the Cantare Chamber Ensemble in two powerful concerts recounting the heroic journey of African Americans from slavery to freedom.

There are 5 pairs of free tickets available to each concert. Email the keyword 'Freedom' to elerts@EastBayExpress.com for a chance to win! Winners will be selected and notified Thursday, Feb 18 by Noon.

Musical highlights include new settings of Strange Fruit, made popular by Billie Holiday, MLK as performed by U2, Sweet Honey in the Rock's Ella's Song, plus freedom songs Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me 'Round and We Shall Overcome. Plus African-American poetry, photos & video clips.
