Re: “Understanding North Korea

Dear Ms. Wentz,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful article on the efforts of East Bay peace activists seeking to end the hostilities between the U.S. and North Korea. I noticed a handful of unproductive right wing comments in the "comments section," and I hope that these comments do not distract you from recognizing that you've performed a valuable service in shining a light on the challenges facing both prospects for unification and for Korea peace activists. Any way you cut it, your article will be a wonderful asset that will help ensure a more rational and balanced conversation, and the best possible outcome will be if people engage your article with an open mind and in a principled manner. I would call you courageous but I'm afraid I have to reserve that term for the people you wrote about--individuals including Christine Ahn, Paul Liem, and so many others not mentioned in your article who, in the face of ignorance and hostility, have stuck their neck out time and time again over many, many years in order to advocate for peace between the U.S. and North Korea.
