A humble working man named Karim gets fired from his job at an ostrich farm outside Tehran, and then tries — and keeps on trying — to get something going to support his family, in filmmaker Majid Majidi’s delightful slice of ordinary Iranian life. Actor Reza Naji is wonderful as the diligent Karim, whose job as an inadvertent motorbike-taxi driver shows us the everyday side of the Iranian capital. Director/co-writer Majidi specializes in gentle, illuminating parables, and this warm tale fits neatly into his filmography alongside The Color of Paradise and Children of Heaven. Recommended (96 min.).
