The Ring Cycle

When: June 23-29 2011
Price: $180-$385 per opera

The four operas of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle are most definitely the big event of the week -- the month, in fact. Demanding near-superhuman efforts from soloists and orchestra, San Francisco Opera's massive undertaking rewards listeners with hours of rapturous music, a Brünnhilde to soar and immolate with the best (soprano Nina Stemme), and a production that stresses the ecological consequences of unbridled greed and deceit. Few tickets remain for performances at the War Memorial Opera House (301 Van Ness Avenue) from Thursday June 23 at 6:30 pm. through Wednesday June 29 at 7 p.m. $180-$385 per opera. 415-864-3330 or SFOpera.com
