Action, Thriller
Nothing-special Indonesian actioner boasts a few notable martial-arts stunts, but that’s like finding some raisins in a bowl of gravel. A Jakarta SWAT team raids a boss gangster’s headquarters but gets trapped and has to fight its way out. Meanwhile we’re looking for a way out of director Gareth Huw Evans’ hackneyed scenario, which dares to throw in the ancient “long-lost brother” subplot. Arrrgghhh! Iko Uwais stars as the alpha cop (he also choreographed the punch-ups), with Ray Sahetapy, Doni Alamsyah, and Joe Taslim in uncertain support. (100 min.)
Director: Gareth Evans
Producer: Ario Sagantoro, R. Barack-Evans, Irwan Mussry, Nate Bolotin and Todd Brown
Cast: Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, Doni Alamsyah, Yayan Ruhian, Pierre Gruno, Ray Sahetapy, Tegar Satrya, Iang Darmawan, Eka Rahmadia and Verdi Solaiman
