When: April 3-7 2018
Price: $15-$150

Oakland International Film Festival

Opening on April 3, the Oakland Film Society presents the 16th Oakland International Film Festival (OIFF), a five-day festival featuring 65 films made in Oakland and around the world. This year’s theme is “MLK50,” marking 50 years since the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. with documentaries, short films, and feature films that “inspire peace, tolerance, diversity, and community.” Catch free screenings of documentaries on resistance at Oakland City Hall or spend a day watching short films at Grand Lake Theater. Aspiring auteurs can network with filmmakers in Jack London Square or sit in on technical filmmaking panels. The show is going on all around town, but the main screening venues are Jack London Regal Theater, Holy Names University, and Grand Lake Theater. Free screenings will take place at City Hall and Warehouse 416. Official OIFF parties will be held at Geoffrey’s Inner Circle and Era Art Bar & Lounge, with a day of service at Oakland Tech and Skyline high schools scheduled for the festival’s closing day.
