Rated PG-13 · 106 minutes · 2007

Comedy, Drama, Romance
This movie promotes itself as a comedy and is based on the novel that served as a scathing rebuke of Upper East Side Manhattan culture dressed down as a chick-lit novel. It features some heavy-hitters like Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti in supporting roles in an attempt to become this year's The Devil Wears Prada. Despite all this, though, the movie manages to become little more than a charmless but innocuous comedy with few laughs, boasts almost no real satire outside of "rich people are disconnected and bad" scenarios, and, thanks to Scarlett Johannson being not nearly as capable of carrying a movie as Anne Hathaway, a lot of big names with nobody to play off.
