Adventure, Drama, Romance
Able-bodied snowy mountain plane crash survival tale travels far on the acting of Kate Winslet and Idris Elba as a previously unconnected pair of travelers forced to undergo numerous trials after their small chartered plane goes down in the Rockies. Contains everything you’d require for a nail-biting adventure, from snowstorms and critters to pitfalls and thin ice over a frozen lake. The direction, by Israel-based filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad – he made the superlative Palestinian political thriller Omar – takes a relatively simple narrative and packs it with tender emotion as well as thrills. Screenplay by Chris Weitz and J. Mills Goodloe, adapted from a novel by Charles Martin (103 min., 2017, rated PG-13)
