Action/Adventure, Drama, Suspense/Thriller
Live-action comic book commandos take their squabble with a glib corporate evildoer named Max (Jason Patric, perfectly snide) from the Bolivian jungle to the port of Los Angeles, jingling all the way. Director Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) lends more than just stylish visuals to Andy Diggle’s DC Comics story, adapted by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt. White and his cast – especially Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, and bad guy Holt McCallany – put comic meat on the trite punch-out scenario. Loads of violent fun, not to be taken seriously. Also with Zoe Saldana as the requisite female warrior/honey trap (98 min.).
