The Language Archive / El Archivo de Idiomas

The Language Archive is a place to preserve what could soon be lost, to care for what exists today and ensure its survival into tomorrow. It’s a fictional place made real in Julia Cho’s play of the same name. George, a linguist, preserves and documents dying languages for the archive in an attempt to communicate across time and cultures. Meanwhile, he’s dealing with the fallout of a failure to communicate at home. The impending dissolution of his most important relationship causes him to lose his words. It’s absurd! It’s comedy! Featuring a multinational cast with performers from the Bay Area and Mexico, it’s a sentimental story that doesn’t just tell you how compromise and appreciation can make something better, it shows you. This weekend’s performances at Live Oak Theatre are a special encore of the original bilingual production from San Miguel de Allende, with translations by Mexican-American playwright and director Octavio Solis. All ticket sales benefit the ACLU And Mujeres Unidas y Activas.
