The Illuminated Corridor Critics' Pick Staff Pick

When: Fri., Oct. 3, 7:14 p.m. 2008
Price: free

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the postmodern art experience is audience immersion in multiple, simultaneously staged events. Performances such as the Illuminated Corridor endeavor to bring the brain-quaking hyperrealism of video games to life right before your eyes, often where you least expect it. Self-described as a "nomadic public art project," the gig is a bold marriage of film, live music, and organic space -- essentially a multi-sensory, performance-art installation -- involving dozens of local sound and visual artists, including veteran avant-garde scenestersLexa Walsh, Phillip Greenlief, and Lords of Outland. The show happens on Friday, Oct. 3 in Kahn's Alley (between Telegraph Ave. and FrankH.OgawaPlaza, Oakland). 7:14 p.m., free. IlluminatedCorridor.com
