According to owner Jay Porter, “Burgers, craft beer, and sausages — that cuts across all cultures.” The Half Orange is nominally a sausages-and-beer joint, but to describe it that way is to sell the place short, especially given the creativity of a menu heavy on Korean and Mexican flavors. Highlights include the outrageously crunchy KFB (Korean Fried Buches, or chicken necks) and a Korean-inflected version of the Latin American street food salchipapas — French fries topped with chopped kimchi, chorizo, sausage, and a miso-based “secret” sauce. Don’t miss the shrimp “Fenix,” which is basically a Baja- style fried shrimp taco. Prices are exceedingly reasonable across the board: The grass-fed burger is less than $8, and some of the craft beer prices are some of the lowest in town, especially on Mondays, when everything on tap is just $3.65.
