The Greenhornes

When: Sat., May 14, 10 p.m. 2011
Price: $12

As Cincinnati's greatest contribution to the current garage rock revival, theGreenhornes are best known for having a rhythm section that also serves in the Raconteurs. Last year, the aforementioned Jack Lawrence and Patrick Wheeler reunited with frontman/guitarist Craig Fox to release **** (aka Four Stars) the band's fourth studio outing and first album in eight years. The resulting dozen-song set is a wondrous hop on the way-back machine to the early British Invasion grittiness of the Kinks and the Stones. It also manages to incorporate the soul-fueled psychedelia of more obscure acts like The Creation and the Pretty Things. Loads of Farfisa organ and fuzz-guitar are heaped onto ear-worms like "Jacob's Ladder" and "Underestimator," giving the Greenhornes a shot at being the unofficial housebandfor Little Steven's Underground Garage. Jack White's favorite Ohio-born power-trio will be making a most glorious-sounding racket on Saturday, May 14 at Bottom of the Hill (1233 17th St., San Francisco) 10 p.m. $12 BottomoftheHill.com
