In the first half of the 20th century, Shanghai became a refuge for thousands of Jews who had fled Europe. At the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay (1414 Walnut St., Berkeley) on Thursday, Sept. 2, Shanghai-bred Inna Mink discusses her memories of the resulting cultural/culinary fusion with Oakland food writer Dianne Jacob and novelist Linda Frank. Samples will be served. 7:30 p.m., $15.
