Drama
Marisa Paredes, yet another Pedro Almodóvar woman on the verge, plays Leo, a successful romance novelist whose home life threatens to drive her nuts. If it isn't her wandering husband or her bickering mother and sister, it's her memory lapses and general loss of control. Surprisingly at this stage of his career, writer-director Almodóvar downplays the humor and hysteria of Leo's plight, and the result is an entertainingly light soap opera with just enough Madrid in it to remind us we're not in Hollywood. With Almodóvar regulars Rossy De Palma, Chus Lampreave, and Imanol Arias (1995).
