The Busy World Is Hushed

When: Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 p.m. Continues through July 20 2008
Price: $40-$42

Aurora Theatre Company wraps up its 16th season with The Busy World Is Hushed, an intimate drama about an Episcopal minister and bible scholar, her estranged gay son, and the ghostwriter she has hired to write a book about a newly unearthed gospel. Much discussion about matters of faith and the church's stance on homosexuality ensues. The play premiered off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizens two years ago, and playwright Keith Bunin now has the unenviable task of trying to wrest a screenplay out of David Foster Wallace's ten-ton novel Infinite Jest. In the meantime, this three-hander is directed by Robin Stanton, who staged the company's acclaimed Permanent Collection, and stars Anne Darragh (last seen at Aurora in The Master Builder), Chad Deverman (SF Playhouse's First Person Shooter), and James Wagner (the ACT MFA students' Candida). June 19 through July 20 at AuroraTheatre(2081 Addison St., Berkeley).AuroraTheatre.org or 510-843-4822.
