Con men siblings Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo lollygag around Europe hatching schemes to separate a gullible heiress (Rachel Weisz at her most radiant) from her millions. But Rian Johnson’s visually rich drama is more of a European-style atmospheric romance than a heist flick, with lonely lovers Brody and Weisz doing most of the connecting while Ruffalo and his reticent female sidekick (Rinko Kikuchi from Babel) supply the explosions and rough stuff. Writer-director Johnson (Brick) studs the travelogue with playful allusions to Herman Melville’s The Confidence Man and sly cameos by Robbie Coltrane, Maximilian Schell, and narrator Ricky Jay. Eye candy with a soul (113 min.).
