The Blank Tapes

When: Sat., Aug. 10, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: 8pm, 10pm
The Blank Tapes is the moniker of Matt Adams, a prolific Los Angeles-based musician who rose to fame by churning out more than ten albums of Sixties-inspired, lo-fi psychedelic folk that he recorded in various “garages, basements, sheds, and bedrooms” across California using an old eight-track cassette recorder. For his latest album, Vacation, Adams recorded at New, Improved Recording in Oakland, but the work sounds as nostalgic and infectious as ever — and maybe just a bit more polished. Catch The Blank Tapes at Awaken Cafe (1429 Broadway Ave., Oakland) on a mini-West Coast tour with Mystic Braves, a garage rock band from Los Angeles with a similarly sunny vibe, plus the classic rock-inspired band Hindu Pirates and alternative rock half-sibling duo Zigtebra.
