Teta Nahla’s Eid Azoumeh One Day Only Staff Pick

When: Mon., July 22, 7-10 p.m. 2019
Price: $50
Azoumeh, which translates to “dinner party” in Arabic, is a Monday night dinner pop-up at Reem’s California. At Azoumeh, Chef Mohammad Abutaha cooks with the flavors and recipes he grew up with in Jordan. This coming Monday’s feast is named in honor of his Teta (grandmother) Nahla, who always stayed up all night cooking a sumptuous meal to celebrate Eid, the day of breaking the fast to mark the end of Ramadan. Just like his grandmother did every Eid, Abutaha will be preparing kharoof mahshi, a whole lamb stuffed with spiced rice and pine nuts, and allayet bandoora, a slow-cooked tomato stew with onions, tomatoes, and garlic served alongside the lamb.
