Re: “You Don't Know Jack

Mr. Gammon, I read your article concerning Marcel Diallo ‘Jack’ in the “East Bay Express.” The first thing that caught my eye was your title. Most times when a writer is expressing his views he is objective, stable minded and interested in the truth. Your article not only sounds like the racist slavery articles posted when searching for a runaway slave, it flagrantly shows your strong dislike (can we say hatred?) for Mr. Diallo. There have been several articles and books written about “What’s in a Name,” especially for the many slaves viciously brought over to the New World. When they were freed they took on the names of their ‘master,’ because their identity had been stripped, rejected and drained from their very spirits. Diallo deciding to use his first and second name most likely comes from the knowledge of knowing his African American history or God forbid he wanted to use his first and second name only. Why is that a problem?

What happened to “a man is innocent until proven guilty?” This article is clearly filled with malice and mean spirits. The alleged idea that Diallo fraudulently wrote an email under the name of Max Allstadt seems not only improbable, but the antithesis of who Marcel Diallo is. Based on the man I know, the articles written on his efforts to save a community and the CNN reports this man is not afraid to publicly state his opinion and his purpose. So why covertly try to sabotage another man’s character? We all know that a person can access a network right outside of the building if they are privy to the WEP code (password) and boldly or darkly stand near the building at 2:57AM. An IP address can show where a person wrote an email, but it does not indicate who that person is.

Wouldn’t a subpoena find out who wrote or created a fraudulent email also allow Allstadt (what’s his full name?) to find out the IP address and even the very computer the message was sent from? Could there be a traitor or spy in Diallo’s community? Allstadt, Sean Sullivan and Rebecca Schneider have no need to create this malicious slander in order to gain assets in Diallo’s community, right? Did someone ‘hack’ into Diallo’s network and create the fraudulent email. If someone can hack into the Pentagon’s files someone can hack into Diallo’s account.

I am greatly disappointed in you Robert, Bob or whatever you call yourself. Your inability to objectively write an article is very unfortunate. Not only did you have the unmitigated gall to write a brutally subjective article, but you have exposed your own hatred of Diallo. Believe it or not there are many peoples, European Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian American and Native Americans who applaud Mr. Diallo for his passion and purpose and want to help each other. Why is that a problem? Your incorrect information in this article on who received grants and the amount they received is clear evidence that you are trying to slander this man’s character and have already found Diallo guilty, thus this article was written to viciously sway the minds and opinions of anyone who reads it. For shame on you, for using your position as a journalist, and the East Bay Express to slander Mr. Diallo’s character and integrity. Shame on the East Bay Express for allowing this article to be printed and letting you disseminate lies and hatred to the public reader. The economy has worsened and many have been affected. What a disgrace to the human race for exposing Mr. Diallo’s financial problems as many citizens (leaders, celebrities, congressmen) are having the same problems. Clearly, “I Don’t Know Gammon,” and I don’t want to know Gammon. I thought you were a writer of objective news and believed in the constitutional laws of our country.

Robert Gammon, “You don’t know jack!” No Pulitzer Prize for you!
