Temescal Street Cinema

When: Thu., June 14, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: free
TemescalStreetCinema.com

Organizers of Temescal Street Cinema, the popular outdoor film series lauded for its free popcorn, live music, and screenings of eclectic independent shorts and documentaries, got a little nervous last year when the Temescal Telegraph Business Improvement District announced it was withdrawing a substantial portion of the funding it had traditionally contributed to the program. But following a successful Kickstarter campaign and partially renewed support from the improvement district, the series lives to see its fifth season, beginning on Thursday, June 14, with a screening of The Waiting Room (a documentary about Highland Hospital) and live music by the Mumlers' Will Sprott. On 49th St. at Telegraph Ave. in Oakland every Thursday through July 19. 8-10:30 p.m., free. 415-652-1623 or TemescalStreetCinema.com
