Teedra Moses at The New Parish

Producer, singer, and Grammy-nominated songwriter Teedra Moses has only released two albums in the last decade — Complex Simplicity in 2004 and Cognac & Conversation in 2015 — but she’s remained a prolific artist, producing a steady stream of new music on seven underground mixtapes, including 2011’s Luxurious Undergrind and 2015’s ClairVoyant. Moses delivers her lyrics in a passionate growl that makes her realistic tales of life and love resonate with listeners. Her delivery is equal parts soul, R&B, and gospel, a blend than comes naturally to the New Orleans-born artist. Raised in a family steeped in gospel music, she was also exposed to zydeco, jazz, and the blues, all of which continue to inform her sound. When she’s not on the road performing, she stays busy writing songs for Christina Milian (“Dip It Low,” a top-ten single), Nivea, Mary J. Blige, Macy Gray, and Oakland’s own Raphael Saadiq.
