Teas with Meaning: First Sunday of the New Year Tea Party

When: Sun., Jan. 6, 2 p.m. 2019
Price: $35
This Sunday, head to Duende for a tea party featuring teas from Oakland tea purveyor Teas with Meaning, which is celebrating its first anniversary. Kamilah Mitchell, a self-described tea connoisseur, educator, brain tumor survivor, and cancer warrior, started Teas with Meaning a year ago, and the brand specializes in loose-leaf organic tea blends. Mitchell says all of her teas include “ginger, mint, and magic,” and she uses ingredients from Oakland and Northern California when possible. At the party, Mitchell will introduce a new blend called Harmony, made with blackberry and raspberry leaves, apples, blackberries, rosebuds, fennel, and, of course, ginger, mint, and magic. Mimosas, hot toddies, and “teatails” will also be available. Along with drinks, the price of a ticket includes finger food from Chef Paul Canales of Duende — vegan, vegetarian, and meat options will be available — and a free giveaway bag. Plus, children 13 and under get in free, and there’ll even be a kids’ activity table.
