Re: “Letters for the week of June 28-July 4, 2006

Dear Editor:

It is not often you can say “You can take $7.00 and make it $700. You can with a gift card which has a $7.00 balance if you put it together with one hundred other people. There is a place that helps abused spouses and children which could use these funds. If you have a gift card with a left over balance or unused, then you can give without spending money. The money will be spent to help people get on their feet.

Every year about around eight billion dollars in gift cards are sold. Out of this 20% are never used. Since there are so many non profits in need of cash why not send them to one place which will use the $7.00 you will never spend.

These cards will be used buy supplies and miscl needed items for battled partners. So why not use something that is just taking in space to help. Please send to project gift cards at SLCC, 1395 Bancroft Ave, San Leandro, CA 94577.

Yours truly,

Joel DeWitt
