Fans of 18th century maritime warfare -- or anyone impressed by really tall things -- can witness both spectacles at Jack London Square (2 Broadway, Oakland) starting on Friday, Feb. 10, when two tall ships, the Lady Washington (a reproduction of the 1750-era ship of the same name) and the Hawaiian Chieftain (a steel ship fashioned after early colonial vessels) sail into Oakland for a series of walk-on tours, three-hour rides, simulated cannon battles (using real gunpowder but foregoing the cannon balls), and more. Continues Saturdays and Sundays, Feb. 11-18; Tuesdays, Feb. 14-21; and Wednesday, Feb. 22. Times and RSVP requirements vary, $3-$60. 1-800-200-5239 or HistoricalSeaport.org
