Swells has come a long way since its beginning two years ago: The San Francisco band has refined and polished its beachy, Walkmen-esque sound — reverbed, jangly guitars; vaguely British-accent-inflected vocals; swishy high-hat-laden beats — and the result is a tight, enjoyable live show. And despite recent lineup changes — singer/bassist Ian Bruce recently departed, leaving Diana Salier (guitar/keys) and Rob Justesen (drums), who’ve added new members — the band shows no sign of slowing down. According to Swell’s Facebook page, the members have been working on new material, which they will undoubtedly unveil at Brick & Mortar Music Hall (1710 Mission St., San Francisco) this week.
