Re: “In Oakland Hills Race, A Battle of Ideologies

Such strong distinctions between the candidates in this race! How can Broadhurst say affordable housing is a "non-issue" in District 4? District 4 is way more than Montclair, and there are plenty of people in other neighborhoods who would love to stay in their neighborhoods but are being priced out. Add to that her lack of support for increasing the minimum wage to $12.25 (try paying rent in District 4 on less than $12.25/hour!) and it seems clear that Broadhurst is out of touch with the needs of many of the people in her own district, let alone across the city. Campbell Washington's experience working in various staff roles in the city over the past decade is clearly, unequivocally an asset - having a strong understanding of the budget process and existing, strong relationships with the people and departments that get things done means she can actually move important work forward, quickly. That Campbell Washington is also clearly more aware of and committed to equity than her competitor just seals the deal.
