Art can be transformative. It can even take you to another time and place. But not a lot of conventional art submerges you into a complete sensory experience. This is the point of a new installation/performance art piece at Pro Arts. North Carolina art organization Cilla Vee Life Arts is putting Submersion together. Director Claire Elizabeth Barratt says the effect of Submersion is “intended to feel like entering into and becoming submerged in an environment like a deep forest or ocean, but made of sound, moving image, and motion.” The people at Cilla Vee are hoping that the installation will feel like an entirely new environment thanks to a transformative combination of audio, visual, and movement elements. In other words, expect an extreme, immersive version of multi-media art.
