Stu Allen & Mars Hotel

When: Fri., Jan. 24, 9 p.m. 2020
Price: $18 Advance / $20 Day of Show / $18 Students
Ashkenaz’s Grateful Dead Night is a Bay Area tradition that has been reaching new heights since Stu Allen and Mars Hotel launched a weekly residency in late 2011. Led by acclaimed guitarist-singer Allen (of Phil Lesh and Friends, Melvin Seals and JGB, Ghosts of Electricity), the band is a revolving cast of musicians who call themselves “inhabitants of Mars Hotel.” Covering the Grateful Dead’s gigantic catalog, Allen is able to delve into blues, country, rock, and Latin music, delighting Deadheads and dancers of all generations, while giving sonic lessons on the history of roots music and how it has evolved into the forms of rock and folk we hear today. A Mars Hotel show is always an energetic evening of good vibes.
