Still Flyin'

When: Fri., Sept. 2, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $10-$12

Few Bay Area bands have reinvented themselves as completely and unapologetically as has Still Flyin' in the past couple years. Formed in 2004 as a reggae-inflected pop collective singing songs about partying, the San Francisco-based group gradually phased out the reggae and ska, then emerged in 2010 as a synthesized art-pop band stuck firmly in the Eighties, an approach it takes utterly seriously and not seriously at all. On Friday, Sept. 2, the slimmed-down band debuts new material at the Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell St., San Francisco), supported by local duo Silver Swans and LA's Letting Up Despite Great Faults, both of whom reinforce Still Flyin's new direction. 9 p.m., $10-$12.
